Psychiatry for OCD and anxiety, by video

Anxiety Relief Clinic is a small psychiatry practice for adults with OCD and anxiety disorders in California and New York. I’m Weston. I co-directed the UCSF Anxiety and OCD Clinic, and I started this clinic to do a narrow thing well. Get the diagnosis right, use medication well, and work alongside your therapist instead of around them.

Weston Scott Fisher, MD, psychiatrist, clinic owner and medical director

Meet Weston

A short hello from me, so you know who you’ll be talking to.

How it works

  1. Fill in the eligibility form. About five minutes. We check that we can treat you and that we take your insurance, and we send you a cost estimate before anything is billed.
  2. A first visit by video, about an hour. You talk, we listen. By the end you will hear what we think is going on and what your options are, in plain words. Medication is one option. It is never a condition.
  3. Follow-ups every one to three months, 20 to 25 minutes, with short visits in between for a refill, a form or a question.

Most people with OCD do best with exposure therapy, with or without medication. If you don’t have an exposure therapist, we will help you find one, and we will stay in touch with them.

Who you’ll see

Weston Scott Fisher, MD, or one of two psychiatric nurse practitioners he trained and supervises, Andrew Anda, PMHNP-BC, and Justin Bobila, PMHNP-BC. A nurse practitioner visit is usually available sooner and costs less. The approach is the same. In New York, all visits are with Weston. Meet the care team

Cost and insurance

In California we are in-network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross and UnitedHealthcare, including Optum. In New York we don’t bill insurance; you can use out-of-network benefits or pay our rates. Without insurance, a first visit is $350 with a nurse practitioner or $600 with Weston. All rates, and how out-of-network works

What patients say

Dr. Weston Scott Fisher provides personal, caring and evidence-based treatment and counseling that meets patients on their own terms. He is welcoming, down-to-earth and always made me feel comfortable in sharing my concerns, thoughts and feelings about treatment and in exploring the different options available to me. Dr. Fisher is more than a psychiatrist, he is a partner in your mental health journey and has been instrumental in my own recovery and treatment. I cannot recommend Dr. Fisher enough!

KC, former patient

In my sessions with Dr. Fisher at UCSF, his treatment was always thoughtful and collaborative, with a high level of expertise and skill.

JD, former patient

Dr. Fisher is fantastic and I’m lucky to have worked with him. He listens attentively in every session and doesn’t just parrot words back to you. Instead, he challenges assumptions and works collaboratively to help you build a plan to help you improve. He’s kind at heart and makes you feel valued each time you interact with him. I highly recommend Dr. Fisher to anyone tired of working with the same old doctors, he’s one of the diamonds in the rough.

Referring a client?

Most of our patients come to us from therapists. If you want a psychiatrist who backs up exposure therapy rather than undercuts it, here is how we work with therapists.
