Everything is by video. The clinic is based in San Francisco and sees adults anywhere in California and New York.
Fill in the eligibility form, about five minutes. If we can treat you, we send your estimated costs and a scheduling link, and you pick a time. The visit is confirmed once you complete a questionnaire about what has been going on, which includes the consent forms. Reading it before we meet means the first visit is spent on you, not on paperwork.
Most of it is you talking and us listening. We go through what brought you here, what you have tried, and what we need to know to treat you safely. Toward the end we tell you what we think is going on and what your options are. If medication is one of them and you want it, we agree on a plan and send the prescription that day.
Every one to three months, depending on how you are doing and whether anything is changing. We talk about what is and isn’t working and adjust the plan. These visits include support for the work you are doing in therapy; they are not a substitute for it.
A question about a medication, an early refill, a form to sign. We keep time each clinic day for these, so there is no need to wait weeks for something that takes ten minutes.
Once you are doing well on a steady plan, a shorter and cheaper visit keeps the prescription going without a full follow-up.
For OCD and most anxiety disorders, a specific kind of therapy does the heavy lifting. That means exposure therapy for OCD, panic, phobias and social anxiety, and habit reversal training for hair pulling and skin picking. We keep a network of therapists who do this work and will refer you to one who fits, and with your permission we stay in touch with them. Weston also provides therapy himself for some self-pay patients; ask at the first visit if that interests you.
